Step 6: Assign tasks to your team with ease

If you want to assign tasks to either internal team members or external collaborators for a translation project, there are two ways to do so.

1. Assign tasks from the project Overview tab.

Here, you can view the list of linguists that Smartcat’s AI matching engine has selected for each task and language pair.

The linguists are ranked in descending order based on their suitability, which is determined by their language pairs, fields of expertise and previous similar assignments.

This list also includes their per-word monetary rate, quality ratings, recent clients, number of projects completed, and total words translated. Additionally, Smartcat provides a link to reviews of the supplier's performance.

To learn more about a specific candidate, click on their profile and select Show full info. To add a selected freelancer to your project, use the Invite button.

2. Assign tasks from the Tasks tab.

To invite suppliers for a particular task, click on the Invite button next to the task.

Smartcat sends an invitation to the single most suitable supplier that the platform’s AI matching engine selects, based on your specific project requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you are assigned a job as a linguist from Smartcat Marketplace, can you still pre-translate the files using machine translation?

If a project is assigned to another language service provider as a linguist, the original account will assign resources such as translation memory and glossaries to the project.

If a machine translation option was not previously selected, the vendor who has been assigned the project can still choose a machine translation engine for the project and pre-translate the document.
